Deionising Cartridge

For the ultimate in reverse osmosis water purification, the Deionising Cartridge is added to remove the most contaminants possible from your drinking water. The Deionising Cartridge is the fourth stage of purification as part of the EcoHero 5 Stage Reverse Osmosis systems.

This cartridge contains tiny beads made of ion exchanging resin, and works as a TDS collector after the intense reverse osmosis process. Even after the reverse osmosis process, water can still contain small amounts of soluble substances called Totally Dissolved Solids (TDS), which cannot be removed with mechanical filtration.

Using the chemical process of deionisation, any tiny amounts of ionised (electrically charged) TDS not removed by the EcoHero-50 membrane, adhere to the Deionising Cartridge’s resin beads in a chemical ion exchange.

Pure and simple science: 

Simply put, the deionising resin beads actually attract non-water TDS ions and replace them with water ions which results in pure, deionised water. The deionising resin is a mixture of cations and anions. The cations are positively charged and the anions are negatively charged, and capture negatively and positively charged TDS ions respectively.

Deionised water from a reverse osmosis system is considered to be extremely pure - a similar purity to water produced by a distiller. However, unlike distillers, reverse osmosis systems can produce purified water quicker, and do not require a power supply or constant descaling. A Pure Water Systems Deionising Cartridge conveniently requires no maintenance beyond the routine 12 month reverse osmosis system maintenance.*

Drinking pure, deionised reverse osmosis water is cleaner and safer than most regular tap water supplies, and can have great potential health benefits for your body - such as improved gut and kidney health. For the best tasting, healthiest alkaline drinking water, we recommend pairing your Deionising Cartridge with a Remineraliser cartridge. A Remineraliser cartridge adds healthy minerals and salts (such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium) back into your water after the intense reverse osmosis process, raising your water’s pH balance to a level considered alkaline.

Deionised water is great for drinking, washing fresh produce, cooking with, tea and coffee, pets’ water dishes, watering plants and a number of commercial applications (such as use in laboratories, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products).
