Why We Chose Oasis

We didn't choose Oasis simply because of the price. When selecting a kids drink bottle for the Pure Water Systems range, we looked at the features that matter when a bottle is being used at school, sport and every day.

That meant looking beyond colour and brand name. We wanted a bottle with stainless steel construction, effective insulation, kid-friendly drinking, clearly stated material specifications, reduced exterior condensation and a design children would actually want to carry.

The Oasis Kids 550ml stood out because it brings those features together in one practical bottle. It uses 18/8 stainless steel, double-wall vacuum insulation, a covered flip-top drinking area and removable silicone sipper straw, and is specified as BPA-free, lead-free and phthalate-free.

Price matters, but it wasn't the only reason we chose Oasis. We wanted a kids bottle that balanced materials, insulation, everyday practicality, design and value without asking families to pay more simply for a bigger brand name.

Why the Materials Matter

For a bottle kids may drink from every day, we think it's worth understanding what some of the material claims actually mean.

BPA, or Bisphenol A, is a chemical that has historically been used in the manufacture of some plastics and resins, including materials used in food and drink containers. A product described as BPA-free means BPA has not been used in the relevant materials.

Phthalates are a group of chemicals used in some plastics to make them softer and more flexible. Oasis specifies these kids bottles as phthalate-free.

Lead-free was another specification we looked for when selecting a kids bottle for the PWS range. Oasis states these bottles are lead-free.

These weren't the only reasons we chose Oasis, but they were part of the decision. Combined with 18/8 stainless steel construction, double-wall vacuum insulation, up to 12 hours cold retention, a covered sipper and reduced exterior condensation, Oasis offered the combination of features and value we were looking for.

Why We Recommend Hand Washing

Oasis recommends hand washing its insulated drink bottles, and we agree.

Double-wall vacuum insulated bottles rely on a sealed space between the inner and outer stainless steel walls. Repeated exposure to the high heat, steam, strong detergents and long wash cycles used in dishwashers can place unnecessary stress on the bottle's finish, seals and insulated construction.

Over time, repeated dishwasher use may contribute to damage to the exterior finish or seals and may affect the bottle's insulation performance. For that reason, we don't recommend putting these bottles through the dishwasher simply for convenience.

To clean the bottle, wash it by hand using warm water, mild dishwashing liquid and a bottle brush. Remove the silicone sipper straw and other removable lid components so they can be cleaned separately, then rinse thoroughly.

Allow the bottle, lid and straw to dry completely before reassembling or storing. This is particularly important for children's drink bottles, where moisture can remain inside lids, straws and small components if they are packed away while still damp.

From the classroom to weekend sport, the Oasis Kids 550ml bottle gives kids an easy way to keep cool water close throughout the day.

The double-wall vacuum insulated construction also helps reduce condensation on the outside of the bottle, helping keep hands, desks and bags drier than they may be with a standard single-wall bottle.
