WHAT IS REVERSE OSMOSIS 

Of all methods to purify water, the process of reverse osmosis is one of the most advanced and effective. More than standard water filtration, the intense water purification process of reverse osmosis removes almost all contaminants found in drinking water, including total dissolved solids (TDS) by forcing water through the ultra-fine pores of the membrane.

Better for the environment (and your home’s water usage), this system is fitted with the Pure Water Systems EcoHero-50 membrane. The EcoHero-50 is the latest in membrane technology, providing up to 300% improved wastewater efficiency when compared to other reverse osmosis membranes.

Unlike standard carbon water filtration, the ultra-fine 0.0001 micron EcoHero-50 membrane removes a minimum of 90.8% of total dissolved solids (TDS) from water. This reverse osmosis system significantly reduces organic and inorganic compounds such as fluoride, viruses, bacteria, herbicides, pesticides, nitrates, algae, phosphates and more. The result is great tasting, healthier and purified drinking water, conveniently at the turn of a tap.

Difference between 4 and 5 stage reverse osmosis systems?

A Deionising Cartridge is added to the EcoHero 5 Stage Systems, to provide an additional stage of filtration to remove the most contaminants possible from your water, achieving a purity level similar to distilled water and as low as 0 ppm TDS.*

This cartridge contains tiny beads made of ion exchanging resin, and works as a TDS collector after the intense reverse osmosis process. Even after the reverse osmosis process, water can still contain small amounts of soluble substances called Totally Dissolved Solids (TDS), which cannot be removed with mechanical filtration.

Using the chemical process of deionisation, any tiny amounts of ionised (electrically charged) TDS not removed by the EcoHero-50 membrane, adhere to the Deionising Cartridge’s resin beads in a chemical ion exchange.

WHAT IS REMINERALISED WATER?

While reverse osmosis is excellent for removing contaminants (such as heavy metals like cadmium, arsenic and chromium), healthy minerals and salts can also be removed leaving your water acidic. As part of this 4 Stage Reverse Osmosis System, the Remineraliser cartridge adds healthy minerals back into your water after the intense purification process.

Why do I need a remineraliser?

The EcoHero Remineraliser is made up of patented mineral crystal balls that remineralise the acidic water after the intense reverse osmosis process. The mineral crystal balls inside this cartridge produce alkaline-rich mineral water containing essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium which are vital for overall health and wellbeing. The Remineraliser also raises the pH balance of the water to a level that is considered alkaline whilst decreasing Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) and produces hydrogen rich drinking water. Installed inline to the reverse osmosis system, the purified water is remineralised at the last stage in the purification process.

What is Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) and Hydrogen Rich Water?

The Remineraliser cartridge may also assist with reducing Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP), which can help to fight free radicals within the water. Active oxygens or free radicals are unstable molecules that our bodies produce when we breathe and our bodies utilise oxygen, a small percentage of this oxygen forms active oxygens or free radicals. The Remineraliser Cartridge also produces hydrogen rich water, which can protect the body from oxidative stress and promote overall health and wellbeing.

The Under Sink EcoHero 5 Stage Reverse Osmosis with Remineraliser system is Lead-free WaterMark Certified to AS3497 and has NSF 42 Certified components. The membrane cartridge is also NSF 58 Certified to remove:

Pressure Limiting Valve

The Pure Water Systems purification system incorporates a precision machined, lead-free full metal construction pressure limiting valve and dual check valve, providing protection from pressure spikes, preventing backflow, and resisting water hammer. Whilst this is a requirement under Australian Standards, we have chosen this valve as it is ultra-reliable and performs to the highest standard, giving you peace of mind that your system is protected.

Cartridge Reminder and Leak Protection System

This system also includes a Leak Protection System which is your best defence against water damage in the unlikely event of a leak from appliances. 
Designed to detect moisture using metal contacts on the control box, it sounds an alarm and isolates the water supply to the water filtration system if a leak is detected, giving you peace of mind that your home and your water filtration system are protected from potential water damage.

This controller also has an inbuilt cartridge life monitor that indicates when the filter cartridge is due to be changed.
