Product Description
The powerful Hi-Tech Optimiser (HTO and HTO+) is the hero of Australian water filter cartridges, making staying healthy and hydrated simple. For unique triple action filtration, the HTO and HTO+ use an electrostatic outer wrap, advanced carbon block technology and a pharmaceutical grade membrane to remove unpleasant water taste, odour and up to 101 contaminants.
Exclusively formulated for Pure Water Systems by the world leaders of compressed carbon block filtration, the HTO and HTO+ provide simply superior filtration over standard carbon cartridges.
Pure and simple science: For an extra level of filtration, the HTO and HTO+'s electrostatic outer wrap becomes positively charged as water passes through it, attracting and trapping microscopic negatively charged contaminants - that are too small for other carbon cartridges to filter. The water then filters through a solid block of blended, activated carbon as well as a pharmaceutical grade membrane for superior contaminant reduction.
Disinfectants (like chlorine) can be added to Australian water supplies to reduce bacteria, parasites and other natural and synthetic contaminants. Some harmful parasites like giardia and cryptosporidium cysts can survive the disinfection process, potentially causing severe illness. Many people avoid drinking regular tap water due to unpleasant taste and odour of disinfection chemicals, and uncertainty of their long-term side effects.
The unique HTO and HTO+ formulation has been NSF tested and certified to effectively remove up to 101 contaminants from your tap water. For safer and healthier water, the HTO and HTO+ allow natural and beneficial minerals to remain, while removing potentially harmful contaminants such as chlorine, chloramine, lead, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), trihalomethanes (THMs), herbicides, pesticides and parasites.
✅Added benefits of the Hi-Tech Optimiser+ Cartridge
Choosing the Hi-Tech Optimiser+ Cartridge (HTO+) will provide you with superior compressed carbon block filtration with the additional benefits of reducing arsenic from your water, which commonly affects people through contamination of water sources via human activities such as mining, fracking, coal power plants and pesticides to name a few.
The HTO+ will also reduce microcystins which can come from certain cyanobacteria blooms. These can be found in Australian water catchments that have calm and stable water conditions like slow-flowing rivers, which can then find their way into our drinking water catchments.
Another important benefit of the HTO+ is its ability to reduce polychlorinated biphenyls and PFOA/PFOS (PFAS). Both these contaminants are introduced to the environment via industrial processes and products which have a need to be resistant to water/heat/oil/grease etc with the most publicised being firefighting foam used around airports.
When using the HTO+, you know you have the best possible protection provided by the best compressed carbon block technology.
The HTO and HTO+ are 10” cartridges that conveniently fit into most portable Bench Top Water Filters and Under Sink Water Filtration Systems. This means you can have great quality water conveniently at the turn of a tap - to enjoy at home or even take with you when you’re out and about.
More than just great tasting and healthier for you, water produced from the HTO and HTO+ are great for washing fruit and vegetables, cooking with, warm drinks like tea and coffee, pets’ water dishes, watering plants and more!
The HTO is available for purchase online with Bench Top Water Filters or Under Sink Water Filtration Systems (town water supply).
Replacement
The Hi-Tech Optimiser cartridge should be replaced every 1892 litres or every 12 months - whichever comes first.
The Hi-Tech Optimiser+ cartridge should be replaced every 1500 litres or every 12 months - whichever comes first.
Please note, all cartridges may be subject to replacement earlier than the recommended period. This depends on how much you use your water filter and the water quality in your area.
For installation, servicing and maintenance guidelines in your local area, please check with your local water authority or state plumbing regulations as they vary between states and territories.

Not all water filtration systems are created equal - it’s what’s inside your water filter that really counts. The cartridge is the heart of your water filtration system, so it’s important to choose a great quality (replacement) cartridge that’s backed up with performance proof.

More than just great tasting drinking water, the HTO and HTO+ produces water that is great for washing fruit and vegetables, cooking with, warm drinks like tea and coffee, pets' water dishes and more.
How It Works
For an extra level of filtration, the HTO’s electrostatic outer wrap becomes positively charged as water passes through it, attracting and trapping microscopic negatively charged contaminants - that are too small for other carbon cartridges to filter. The water then filters through a solid block of blended, activated carbon and the pharmaceutical grade membrane for superior contaminant reduction.
Stage 1 - The Electrostatic Outer Wrap
ACTIONS OF FILTRATION - Electrostatic & Mechanical Filtration
The HTO's white surface layer is the electrostatic outer wrap, which is a built-in positively (+) charged electrostatic pre-filter, that not only protects the carbon inside but enables the HTO to provide simply superior contaminant reduction compared to standard carbon cartridges.
The electrostatic outer wrap gains a strong positive (+) charge by the kinetic effect of water passing through the cartridge. This positive charge allows the electrostatic outer wrap to attract and trap negatively (-) charged contaminants which due to their microscopic size, may otherwise pass through the submicron carbon block.
The graded density electrostatic outer wrap also mechanically traps dirt, sand and other particles that are physically too large to pass through the wrap.
Purely and simply, the electrostatic outer wrap enables the HTO to remove MORE impurities from the water for a longer period of time than standard carbon cartridges.
Stage 2 - Compressed Carbon Block
ACTIONS OF FILTRATION - Adsorption & Mechanical Filtration
Contaminants are removed by two processes in the densely compressed, unique blend of activated carbons. These processes are adsorption and mechanical filtration.
Adsorption is the process of the contaminants sticking to the surface area of the carbon. Contaminants such as chlorine, lead, mercury and many more, are effectively removed from the water by this process.
The HTO’s blend of carbons is heavily compressed to achieve a carbon block with submicron pore sizes. These restricted pore sizes are so small that contaminants like giardia, cryptosporidium, asbestos and turbidity, physically cannot pass through them.
Stage 3 - Pharmaceutical Grade Membrane
ACTIONS OF FILTRATION - Mechanical
The pharmaceutical grade membrane is located at the core of the HTO and plays a very important role. This final stage membrane provides structural integrity, but most importantly offers protection against carbon migration, meaning you're not ingesting the contaminated carbon from your filter cartridge. The carbon and contaminants remain in the cartridge, so you can have healthy, great tasting filtered water at the turn of a tap.
